As we move toward Friday evening a few high, thin cirrus clouds are drifting across the sunshine. It has been a sunny, blue sky day with westerly winds bring warm and dry air our way. So far, no one has gotten up to 90 degrees with high temps mainly between 84-88. With low humidity and a nice breeze, it has really been a nice day. Tonight we should see a few of those high clouds drift over the 89% full waxing gibbous moon making for a bright night sky. We should remain dry and mild with the coolest overnight low temps in the low spots around Richlands and Kenansville getting into the low 60s while most of us will be in the 63-67 degree range and the beaches will be near 70. Independence Day Saturday will be sunny in the morning transitioning to a mix of sun & clouds in the afternoon. Most of our computer forecast models want to keep the day dry with a westerly breeze. High temps should be in the middle 80s near the beaches and in the range of 88 to 92 degrees for most areas away from water. Right now it looks like most of the fireworks that are scheduled for 9 or 9:30pm should have no problems (delays or cancellations) from the weather. During the overnight clouds will begin to roll in with low temps dropping to the low 70s. On Sunday we will see some sun popping in and out of the clouds, but overall it should be a mostly cloudy day as a front moves our way. As that front moves into the area by afternoon we will begin to see rain and thunderstorms move into the area from the west and cross from west to east during the late afternoon and evening. High temps will be in the upper 80s. The front will stall over the area leading to a good chance of on & off rain and storms for Sunday night and Monday with Sunday night low temps in the middle 70s and Monday's high temp in the upper 80s. We start clearing out Monday night with a mix of sun & clouds on Tuesday and high temps in the upper 80s. I hope you enjoy a safe 4th of July holiday!
