Discussion: Alberto will remain to our south today and pass harmlessly by the south coast of the state tomorrow. Only impact from the storm will potentially be felt along the Crystal Coast is from slightly higher water levels and an enhanced rip current threat. But you do not need a tropical cyclone to have tropical moisture. An upper level low has moved in from the northern Outer Banks and Virginia Capes. This low was responsible for forcing Alberto down southwest to off the Florida coast. But the counter-clockwise flow around that system will pull in tropical moisture in off the Atlantic Ocean and also begin to pull Alberto on its northeastward journey. This mess will all get kicked off our coast going into mid week as a system from the west will form another cut-off upper low over us by Wednesday. This will keep the chance for storms in the forecast through Thursday PM. But just in time for the Memorial Day weekend and upper level ridge will build over top of us giving us sunny and hot conditions.
