KINSTON, Lenoir County - The Down East Wood Ducks unveiled their logo and colors during a ceremony at Grainger Stadium on Wednesday.
The main logo is a duck head with green, red and orange colors. The mascot is also holding a tree limb, signifying a baseball bat.

"Our whole team, alongside design agency Brandiose, worked very hard to design our mascot, logos and marks," said Wood Ducks President Joe Januszewski in a press release. "We are thrilled with the results and look forward to seeing our team on the field in Kinston on opening day, April 10th."
"We are excited to see fans of all ages wearing Wood Ducks gear,” commented Wood Ducks General Manager Wade Howell. “We have a limited amount of items on sale starting today at woodducksbaseball.com, with new merchandise arriving weekly as we count down to our first season of Wood Ducks baseball."
The team held its first-ever Hot Stove Banquet tonight at Kings BBQ. In a press release from the Wood Ducks, new manager Howard Johnson, in addition to members of the Texas Rangers, were scheduled to be on hand for both the logo unveiling and the Hot Stove event. Other members attending include Rangers manager Jeff Banister, Rangers Assistant Director of Player Development Paul Kruger, pitchers Tony Barnette and Nick Martinez, Hickory manager Spike Owen and radio broadcaster Matt Hicks.
The team will host an exhibition game on April 3 against the University of Mount Olive. The season begins April 6 at Salem and the first official home game is April 10 vs. Winston-Salem.
