Derrell Scott ran for 209 yards and three touchdowns Saturday to help Havelock beat Concord 21-13 in the Class 3-A North Carolina High School Athletic Association championship.
Scott was named the game's most valuable player for Havelock (16-0), which won its third straight state championship. The Rams trailed 10-0 early in the second quarter before Scott broke free for a 51-yard score, the first of three straight for the senior that put Havelock in control.
Scott scored on a 20-yard run late in the half, then had a 96-yard TD run midway through the third that gave the Rams a 21-10 lead on the way to a 30th straight win.
Rocky Reid ran for 218 yards for the Spiders (15-1), including the 55-yard scoring run that put Concord up 10-0.
It marked the second straight year Havelock beat Concord in the 3-A final, with the Rams winning last year's game 55-21.
