The Edmonton Oilers signed center Leon Draisaitl to a three-year, entry-level contract on Tuesday.
The No. 3 overall pick in the 2014 NHL Draft played for Prince Albert in the Western Hockey League last season and finished fourth in the league in scoring with 105 points (38 goals, 67 assists). He added one goal and two assists in four playoff games.
A German native, Draisaitl represented his home country in the 2014 World Hockey Championship and had one goal and three assists in seven games. Other international appearances include the World Junior Hockey Championship in 2013 and 2014, the Under-18 World Junior Hockey Championship in 2012 and 2013, and the 2012 Under-17 World Hockey Challenge.
