The East Carolina women’s basketball game against Old Dominion that is scheduled for Thursday, January 30, will tip-off at 2 p.m. at Williams Arena inside Minges Coliseum.

Admission and parking for Thursday’s Conference USA contest will be free to the general public.

The Pirates and the Monarchs will meet for the 51st time in program history. Old Dominion leads the all-time series 42-8. Thursday’s match up marks the first time the two teams have squared off since 2007, when ODU defeated East Carolina, 88-66, at Minges Coliseum. The Pirates are looking snap a 28-game losing streak against Old Dominion. East Carolina has not defeated ODU since February 22, 1992, when the Pirates were victorious over the Monarchs, 71-57, in Greenville, N.C.

East Carolina is looking to get back on the winning track after dropping an 82-80 overtime contest to Southern Miss. The Pirates are 16-3 overall and hold a 4-2 Conference USA mark to rank third in league standings. The Pirates are undefeated at home as they have posted a 10-0 record at Williams Arena inside Minges Coliseum this season.

ECU is shooting 42.0-percent from the field which ranks fifth in Conference USA. The Pirates are outscoring their opponents 74.6 points per game to 60.1 for a scoring margin of +14.5 which is good for first in the league and 18th in the nation. East Carolina owns the advantage in rebounding as the Pirates average 43.9 boards per game, while limiting their counterparts to a conference-leading 35.5 for a rebounding margin of +8.4 which also leads C-USA and ranks 22nd in the NCAA. Additionally, the Pirates lead the conference in blocked shots per game (5.1) and steals per contest (11.7). Those marks are also good for 18th and seventh, respectively, in the NCAA.

Redshirt sophomore forward Jada Payne is the team’s leading scorer as she averages 20.7 points per game which is good for third in the league and 31st in the nation. Payne also leads the Pirates in rebounding with an average of 7.6 boards per game to rank 10th in C-USA. The Hickory, N.C., native owns a three-point field goal percentage of 42.9 which ranks her 23rd in the NCAA and third in the conference. Redshirt junior guard Abria Trice is ECU’s second leading scorer with 16.8 points per game which is good for eighth in the league. She also contributes 4.4 rebounds per game, a team-best 35 steals, 26 assists and 12 blocks. Redshirt junior post Ondrea Shaw has been key on defense for East Carolina as she leads the team and conference with 3.1 blocks per game. Her blocks per game average is also good for 10th in the nation. Shaw is second on the team with 7.5 rebounds per game, which ranks 13th in C-USA, while adding 3.3 points per game and 20 steals.

Old Dominion is 9-11 on the year and 2-4 in Conference USA action. The Monarchs have lost their last two games to UAB (80-64) and Middle Tennessee (62-49) and are looking to get back on the winning track.

ODU is shooting 41.2-percent from the field and 60-percent from three-point range. The Monarchs average 68.1 points per game and allow 67.5. Old Dominion owns an average of 39.5 rebounds per game as well as 13.7 assists per game, 8.9 steals per game and 3.0 blocks per game.

The Monarchs are led offensively by Shae Kelley who is their only double-figure scorer as she averages 16.4 points per game. Kelley also leads the squad in rebounding with 10.2 boards per contest while adding 47 assists, a team-best 42 steals, and a team-leading 27 blocks.
