Sophomore Defensive End Terrell Stanley

What are your personal and team goals for the 2013 season? “As a group we want to be the best defense Conference USA, but to do that we have to work on pass rush, run defense and play assignment football. We want to win a conference title and anything short of that is not expectable. We haven’t won a bowl game in a while, so that is the second team goal and we want to let everyone in the country know about ECU.”

You've played both on the inside and at end - what are some of your favorite things about both positions? When playing inside its more man vs. man. It’s all about power and trying to shed off two blockers at once to get into the backfield. On the outside, it’s more about finesse and speed. You’re trying beat the tackle on the corner and get to the quarterback. There is a lot more room to work with as an end.”

What would you list as your most memorable ECU Pirate moment to date? “Last year beating Houston to become bowl eligible. During my true freshman season we missed out on a bowl, so last year helping the team get back to the post-season was a great feeling.”

Name one ECU offensive linemen you wouldn't want to see on another team lined up across from you? Why? Hands down I think the whole group would say Will Simmons “Pit Bull”. He is an aggressive dude that comes at you every play and gives you his best 100 percent of the time on the field.”

Sophomore Nose Tackle Terry Williams

What are your personal and team goals for the 2013 season? Our main goal as a team is win a conference championship. From there we want win a bowl game, which is something we haven’t done in a while. Personally I want to continue to get better in every facet of my game and improve on last year. I have been working on my quickness and pass rushing techniques this preseason.”

What part about playing nose tackle do you enjoy the most? Just being in the middle of the defense and having an impact on every play. I feel like I have a 50/50 chance of making every play as an interior lineman as long as I get off the ball and trust what I am doing and my teammates.”

What would you list as your most memorable ECU Pirate moment to date? Last year against Marshall. We fought hard up front for the entire 60 minutes and then went into two overtime periods. When you play a game like that you are so pumped up that fatigue never enters your mind. You just do the job at hand and I think as a group the D-Line did a great job. Personally, that was a great game for me as well. I caused the fumble in the second overtime and gave our team a chance to win, which we did when Shane (Carden) scored from one yard out.”

Name one ECU offensive linemen you wouldn't want to see on another team lined up across from you? Why? It’s got to be Will Simmons. He is a great guy, but when he gets on the field he is aggressive and intense. We call him ‘Pit Bull’, which explains everything you need to know about him.”
