Erlin (3-3) limited Los Angeles to four hits and one walk while striking out seven in improving to 2-0 at home. Luke Gregerson retired the only batter he faced and Huston Street struck out two with runners on the corners to notch his 32nd save.
Gyorko opened the scoring in the first inning with a groundout that plated Chris Denorfia, who reached on a two-base error while leading off and stole third. The lead was doubled in the fifth when Gyorko deposited a 2-0 offering from former Padre Edinson Volquez (9-12) over the center-field wall for his 20th home run.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Volquez, who was released by San Diego in August, yielded two runs - one earned - on five hits and four walks in 6 1/3 innings. ...
