The Tampa Bay Lightning have found new life with three victories in their last four games as they head to Canada to start a huge three-game road trip. The Lightning will have to depend on their young players even more when they visit the struggling Toronto Maple Leafs on Wednesday before heading to Ottawa and Winnipeg. Already without captain Vincent Lecavalier due to a foot injury, defenseman Victor Hedman is day-to-day with an upper-body injury and power forward Ryan Malone is lost indefinitely with a shoulder injury. The Maple Leafs look to snap a five-game winless streak (0-3-2), in which they have surrendered 20 goals. Toronto has lost its cushion for an Eastern Conference playoff spot, but it has welcomed top-six forward Joffrey Lupul back from injury. Nazem Kadri set up both of Lupul's goals in the 5-4 shootout loss to Winnipeg on Saturday.TV: 7 p.m. ET, RDS, TSN, SunSports (Tampa).ABOUT THE LIGHTNING (13-15-1): One factor in the Lightning's recent upturn is the spark from players recalled from their American Hockey League affiliate in Syracuse. Alex Killorn has been one of the most dependable forwards in his 19 games, while physical defenseman Radko Gudas has made an impact in the last four. Coach Guy Boucher sent out the line of Dana Tyrell, Tyler Johnson and Ondrej Palat - all recent callups - to bottle up Philadelphia with a one-goal lead in the final minutes. Steven Stamkos, Martin St. Louis and Teddy Purcell, who combined for 11 points the last four games, must keep producing.ABOUT THE MAPLE LEAFS (15-12-2): The return of Lupul will help the offense, but the Maple Leafs have to be better defensively if they are going to stay in playoff position. Toronto has allowed fewer than two goals on one occasion since losing at Tampa Bay 4-2 on Feb. 19. Coach Randy Carlyle is looking for more consistency and less mistakes from his team. Kadri shares the team lead in scoring with Phil Kessel at 27 points, despite logging an average of 4:30 less ice time. Kadri could remain with Lupul and Nikolai Kulemin, while Kessel plays on a line with James van Riemsdyk and Tyler Bozak..OVERTIME1. Lightning G Anders Lindback is 3-2-0 with a .941 save percentage in his last five games.2. Toronto C Mikhail Grabovski has one point (a goal) in 14 games at home, where his team is 6-6-2.3. Johnson is 14-0 on faceoffs the last two games - the second and third of his career - for the Lightning.PREDICTION: Lightning 4, Maple Leafs 3.
