Jeff Charles makes first public comments about fight with cancer

The voice of the Pirates made his first public comments Wednesday concerning his battle with cancer. Jeff Charles was a guest on Pirate Radio 1250's "Live @ Five".
He thanked and updated the pirate nation on his health. Jeff told Troy Dreyfus and Jonathan Ellerbe that the tumor removed from his colon, on a scale of 1 to 4 with 4 being the worst, was a 4. But he says he is now getting stronger each day, and he is expecting to start chemo treatments in a few weeks. Those treatments will last six months.
He says doctors also found a tumor on his lung, and he will have that biopsied in a couple weeks to find out if it is cancerous. Jeff wants to thank all those who have sent cards and well wishes to him during the last month.
