Woman robbed in Walmart parking lot, police say suspect still on the loose
A woman robbed outside of a New Bern Walmart is speaking out about her frightening experience.
On Sunday evening around 6 p.m. a woman, who we are not identifying for safety reasons, made a trip to the popular retail store. After unloading her shopping cart she went to get inside of her car. She says that's when a man approached her from behind.
The man then demanded her purse, and she placed it on her trunk.
"He went to grab it," the victim said." And then I grabbed the other side of it and started yelling. Then another lady jumped out of her car, she was parked right next to me, and started screaming purse snatched."
The woman wasn't able to give a detailed description to police. She said once he got her purse he ran through the parking lot and across Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.
She says the police contacted her Monday afternoon, informing her that her purse had been found at Chick-fil-a, across the street from where she was robbed.
The woman says she is thankful that people around her jumped in to help. She says, one bystander even chased the robber, but was unable to catch him. Others who witnessed the incident called it in to police.
If you have any additional information about the robbery, please contact the New Bern Police Department. The man responsible has not been caught.
