Woman accused of stabbing man several times

NEW BERN, CRAVEN COUNTY - A woman has been charged for allegedly stabbing a man several times in New Bern.

According to the New Bern Police Department, Ryesha Latrice Lovick, 23, of Vanceboro, is charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill.

Police said 56-year-old William Swayne was visiting a friend in Craven Terrace in the area of Cedar and Oak Streets when he and Lovick got into an argument. The suspect then stabbed Swayne several times, investigators said.

Police said they responded at about 10:22 p.m. Tuesday.

Swayne was taken to CarolinaEast Medical Center, and later to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville. But as of Wednesday morning, he was not listed in Vidant.

Lovick was arrested and jailed. Her first court appearance is scheduled for Wednesday.
