A woman who told police she was kidnapped at gunpoint by her boyfriend from a Quality Inn is now accused of lying.

April Rogers, 24, of Havelock, was arrested Tuesday and is charged with filing a false report, according to the Morehead City Police Department.

Police said Rogers originally told them that her boyfriend, 28-year-old Samuel Barrie Jr., went to the Quality Inn in Morehead City where she worked early Monday morning. Investigators said they were told that Barrie then fired his gun into Rogers' unoccupied vehicle and kidnapped her at gunpoint, taking her to the Harlowe area where Barrie was arrested.

But police said Rogers has changed her story, and is now saying the domestic situation happened at her home on Blades Road in Havelock, not at the Morehead City Quality Inn.

Rogers was placed in the Carteret County Jail under a $1,500 bond, police said. Investigators did not say if Barrie's charges will be dropped.
