GREENVILLE, PITT COUNTY -

A Greenville woman is accused of forging workers' compensation certificates.

According to investigators with the Department of Insurance, 47-year-old Amy Eakes gave fake certificates of liability/workers' compensation insurance to building contractors throughout 2011.

She gave them the fake certificates so she could get work for C&A Builders , even though the company had no such insurance, investigators said.

Eakes was arrested on Monday and was placed under a $25,000 bond. She has been charged with one felony county of attempting to obtain property by false pretense and uttering of a forged endorsement.
