A Fountain man who was shot in the head at his home on May 28 has died according to a spokesperson for Pitt County Sheriff's Office.
Family members said Anthony "Chubb" Parker as someone had a tremendous connection and passion for the elderly.
Parker took care of his grandmother and lived with her in Pitt County. Parker's grandmother, Helen Edward remembers him fondly as someone who really cared about her.
"He was nice to me. He did everything that he could. He cooked breakfast for me. Brought me breakfast in bed," Edward said.
Parker had been working outside on May 28 when he was robbed and attacked at gun point. Family said Parker was shot in the head.
Pitt County Deputies said there are four suspects. Those suspects are Anthony Phillips, Lamario Melton, Samuel Melton, and a 15-year-old juvenile.
They were charged with attempted murder, assault and robbery.
As of Sunday, Anthony Phillips and Lamario Melton now have a first degree murder charge.
After the shooting, Parker was taken to the hospital and later went into a coma.
Family said Parker never woke up.
Saturday morning he died at a nursing rehabilitation center.
