Two women arrested, accused of taking $6,000 worth of merchandise
Two women were arrested in Onslow County on larceny charges, after trying to run away from police.
Officials said Refeeka Brunson, 37, and Dominique Eason, 19, were arrested Wednesday. Both women are from Wilmington.
Jacksonville Police responded to a report of larceny near the Marshall's on Western Blvd. Officers noticed the suspects' vehicle leaving the Sam's parking lot and crossing over to Circuit Ln.
Officers tried to stop the vehicle, but Brunson and Eason took off, according to officials. At one point, the suspects' vehicle suddenly stopped and shifted into reverse, colliding with the patrol car.
The suspects tried to flee on foot, but were taken into custody. Officers then searched the vehicle and found the back seat and trunk full of stolen merchandise.
Officers estimated the value of the merchandise to be over $6,000.
Both women face multiple charges, including possession of stolen goods, resisting a public officer, assault with a deadly weapon and reckless driving, in addition to larceny charges.
