PLYMOUTH, WASHINGTON COUNTY -

Police say they found a man suffering from gunshot wounds on a neighbor's front lawn in Washington County Thursday night.

Police said it all started at about 10 p.m. Thursday, when a home invasion occurred at 211 Brinkley Ave. in Plymouth.

The resident, Curtis Prince Hamilton, was found with gunshot wounds on a front lawn a few doors from his home, said investigators. Curtis Hamilton's aunt, Angela Smith said she heard a cracking noise and went outside to check.

"My nephew was standing right there and said, 'Aunt I've been shot.' I said, 'Stop lying.' Then he fell to the ground," Smith said.

Washington County EMS treated Hamilton's gunshot wounds at the scene, police said. The man was then taken to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.

Police said they found a large amount of marijuana in Hamilton's home, but Smith isn't buying it.

"Why you worrying about some weed that you found, and then too for all I know you all could have planted it," Smith said.

Smith said she thinks that the police need to worry about the bigger crime here , the shooting of her nephew.

At last check, no arrest had been made. Anyone with information is asked to call the Plymouth Police Department at 252-793-4680 or Washington County Communications at 252-793-2422.
