Investigators in Beaufort County say two men broke into a home, assaulted the resident, and tried to rob him.
The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office said the break-in happened at a residence at Mimosa Mobile Home Park in Washington at about 5:30 p.m. on Aug. 2.
Deputies said 19-year-old Gerardo Mendoza Ramirez and 20-year-old Derick Andrew Cannon, both from Washington, assaulted and tried to rob the man who lived in the home.
The victim was treated at Vidant Beaufort Hospital and released, investigators said.
Ramirez was arrested on Aug. 6, and Cannon was arrested on Aug. 11, said the Sheriff's Office. They are each charged with breaking and entering to terrorize, attempted common law robbery, conspiracy, trespassing, disorderly conduct, and assault inflicting serious injury.
Ramirez was being held in the Beaufort County Detention Center on a $15,000 secured bond and Cannon was being jailed on a $30,000 secured bond.
