Two ECU students said they witnessed their neighbors getting robbed
Greenville Police said an apartment at Cypress Gardens on E. 10th Street, is one of five robberies that happened in Greenville on Tuesday night.
ECU student Jasmine Ellison, along with another East Carolina University student who did not want to be identified, said they witnessed their neighbors getting robbed.
"I walked past these two guys, in two black hoodies, and they had computers and stuff in their hands," said the ECU student.
She said when she passed the suspects in the stairwell she had no idea what was going on.
"Next thing we hear our neighbors saying oh we just got robbed," she said.
According to police three people, armed with handguns, broke into an apartment at Cypress Gardens on E. 10th Street on Tuesday night.
Police said around 11 p.m. three ECU students were sitting in their home when they were robbed and held at gunpoint.
The two witnesses said the night before the incident happened they saw the same men sitting in their car outside.
"I saw two guys with hoodies on and I said something is not right. So we sat in the car and didn't want to get out because we didn’t feel safe," said Ellison.
Ellison said both of them are concerned and considering moving out.
"I got to look around before I get out my car and that makes me want to carry something on me because I don’t feel safe,” said Ellison. “I don’t like the fact that I don’t feel safe in my own neighborhood."
