GREENVILLE - Police in Greenville have charged two suspects in a series of break-ins in the area of Wyndham Circle.
Police arrested Jaquanne Antonio Saunders, 18, early Wednesday morning. Officers have also filed charges against 21-year-old Jasmine Qniqua Lasha Spruill, but have not arrested her because officers believe she is pregnant.
Investigators believe that Saunders is the suspect seen leaving an unlocked apartment on Tuesday evening with several stolen items. Investigators began surveillance of the area, and officers early Wednesday morning saw five people park a car and begin walking in the direction of Wyndham Circle. Officers stopped that group, and after seeing that Saunders was among them made the arrest.
Saunders had a pair of socks with him, which officers believe he was going to use as gloves.
Detectives also detained the other suspects, including Spruill, for questioning at the police department.
After their questioning, detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Spruill. Since she appeared to be pregnant, police Sgt. Joe Friday said, detectives deferred serving the warrant until a later time. Spruill already has a Sept. 9 arrest for larceny.
Saunders was held under a $30,000 bond. He has prior arrests for theft and resisting arrest.
The area where police believe Saunders and Spruill were targeting has also seen several arson fires where those locations were first burglarized. Police have not yet charged Saunders or Spruill with arson, and the case is still under investigation.
