Tropical Storm Lorenzo has formed in the Atlantic, becoming the twelfth tropical storm of the season.

According to the National Weather Service, Tropical Depression 13 became Tropical Storm Lorenzo just after 4:30 p.m. Monday. But no coastal watches or warnings were issued.

Lorenzo is expected to be steered north-northeastward and then northeastward during the next day or so around the northwest side of a mid-level ridge, the NWS reported.

Some intensification is expected during the next day or so while the cyclone is over warm waters. It is not expected to be a threat to the North Carolina coast.
