JACKSONVILLE -

A Jacksonville man was injured Friday morning after he was hit by what troopers think is a compact car.

The victim, Larry Lee Joiner, 27, reported he was hit at 5:13 a.m. It happened on Blue Creek Road one half mile Northeast of Pony Farm Road.

Troopers think Joiner was hit by the side mirror of the car as he was walking on the side of the road from a friends house. Whoever was driving the car didn't stop. Troopers said speed did not appear to be a factor.

Joiner sustained injuries to his hand and back and was taken to Onslow Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

There were no witnesses, but troopers ask anyone with information to call
