GREENVILLE - Several people were taken to a hospital in an accident involving a Greenville transit bus Tuesday afternoon, investigators said.
Between 35 to 40 people were on the bus when the accident happened at the intersection of Memorial Drive and Fire Tower Road, near the Pitt Community College, said Winterville Fire Chief Tony Smart. A car sideswiped the bus, according to a witness.
The driver of that car said she was turning right from Fire Tower Road onto Memorial Drive, when her vehicle collided with the bus, which was turning left onto Memorial Drive.
The driver of the car said the collision caused her vehicle to hit a sign, but both she and the dog with her were not hurt.
Between 10 to 12 people on the bus were taken to a hospital as a precaution, but no one had life-threatening injuries, Chief Smart said.
