PINEY GREEN, ONSLOW COUNTY -

A driver has been charged for an Onslow County wreck that sent three people to a hospital.

William Tedeschi, 23, was charged with driving left of center for the accident near Piney Green Road and Old 30 Road Tuesday evening, troopers said.

According to investigators, Tedeschi was driving a black Chevy north on Piney Green Road when he drifted left of center. He then crashed head-on into a white Hyundai, troopers said. The wreck was reported just after 5 p.m. Tuesday.

Troopers said Tedeschi was airlifted to New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, but his condition was not released. He is a member of the military.

Barbara Venters, 63, was driving the Hyundai; a passenger was in the car as well, troopers said. Both were taken to Onslow Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Troopers said speed and alcohol were not factors in the crash, but it's unclear what made Tedeschi lose control.
