GREENVILLE - A crowd of 6,000 people came out Wednesday evening to see Michelle Obama speak at ECU's Minges Coliseum in Greenville.
Marie Perry drove down from Williamston for the big event.
"I can't even imagine. This is a lifetime achievement. I never thought that I'd be able to see the First Lady of the United States. I'm just so excited," Perry said.
People of all ages were in attendance, including children.
"As long as I am here I feel that I am helping out as much as I can," 13-year-old Anthony Maye said.
When you have a crowd this big not everyone can show up at the same time. People towards the front of the line started getting here as early as 9:30 a.m.
"We have shirts we have buttons and we have fired up and ready to go," Rosa Birdie said.
Brodie was one of the first people to arrive Wednesday morning.
"I want [the crowd] to get bigger and it's going to get bigger," she said.
We caught up with Rosa after the speech was over and she was even more fired up than she was beforehand.
"Wasn't it wonderful. She is just so magnetic and she's on the battlefield for her husband," she said.
Deryck Wilson couldn't agree more.
"It was a very good speech. A very good speech. I liked that it wasn't all about politics. It was about moving forward," Wilson said.
Mrs. Obama spoke directly to young voters in her thirty-minute speech to go out and do their part and vote. It was a message that hit college student Millicent Jones hard.
"Oh it was great. Yeah I was really inspired by it. Like I wasn't a person that would get into voting but I actually registered today and I'm going to be voting for Obama," Jones said.
However, not everyone is set on who they're voting for. Jacqueline DeJesus, an ECU student, is one of them.
"I'm just doing some more research and in the end hopefully I'll make the right decision," DeJesus said.
12-year-old Journey Payton was just happy to be there and see Mrs. Obama in person.
"I was very excited because really nobody comes to Greenville so I was like 'Yes! I get to see somebody,'" Payton said.
