Thomas re-elected as mayor of Greenville

GREENVILLE, PITT COUNTY -

With 28 out of 28 precincts reporting, incumbent Allen Thomas has been re-elected as Greenville's mayor.

Thomas (left) received 57.47 percent (6,067) of the 10,556 total votes, according to the Board of Elections. His opponent, businessman Tom Best, received 42.36 percent (4,472 ) of the votes.

Thomas will be serving his second term as Greenville's mayor. He was previously appointed as a representative on the City of Greenville Board of Adjustment. Thomas was also elected as the chairman of the Planning and Zoning Commission.

Earlier in the night, New Bern Ward 6 Alderman Dana Outlaw edged out Ward 1 Alderman Sabrina Bengel to become New Bern's mayor-elect.
