WASHINGTON, BEAUFORT COUNTY - Deputies have arrested two men who allegedly stole trailers, tools and other items in a string of Beaufort County break-ins.
Mark Shane Tripp (pictured), 37, was arrested on Tuesday at his home in Chocowinity, deputies said. His alleged co-conspirator, Charles Patrick Craddock, 42, of Jamesville, was taken into custody on July 26.
According to investigators, Tripp and Craddock were involved in break-ins and larcenies on East Barr Road in Chocowinity, Highway 17 in Washington, and Slateston Road in Washington. The crime spree happened between June 8 and June 23, deputies said.
Investigators said stolen items included a utility trailer, a car trailer, a generator, chainsaws, a pressure washer and numerous hand tools. Most of the items were taken from yards or outbuildings located on the properties, according to deputies.
Both suspects were charged with two counts of breaking and entering, two counts of larceny after breaking and entering, two counts of felony possession of stolen property, felony larceny, and misdemeanor possession of stolen property.
Tripp was being held on a $15,000 secured bond, investigators said. Craddock was being jailed on a $35,000 secured bond.
Several of the stolen items were recovered at a home on Ballard Road in Williamston, deputies said. Additional charges were expected in Martin County.
