A tractor-trailer smashed into a school bus in North Carolina during the foggy morning commute Wednesday, injuring several students and two drivers.
WTVD reports that the accident happened at about 7 a.m. on U.S. 70 at Uzzle Industrial Drive in Clayton, approximately 24 miles southeast of Raleigh.
Officials told WTVD the school bus was carrying 12 students to Smithfield Middle School and was making a left turn. That was when the tractor-trailer hit the bus from behind, officials said.
Crews immediately took five students and the driver of the bus to a hospital. Two more students were taken to be checked out after their parents arrived at the scene, WTVD reports.
The tractor-trailer driver was taken to the hospital as well. None of the injuries appeared to be life-threatening, officials told WTVD.
There was no word on charges.
