Teen shot by customer charged in Asheville store robbery

ASHEVILLE (AP) - A 17-year-old has been charged in connection with an armed robbery of an Asheville convenience store, during which he was shot by a customer.

The Asheville Citizen-Times reports (http://avlne.ws/2qww2Zn ) the teen was charged Wednesday with robbery with a dangerous weapon and misdemeanor simple assault.

Arrest warrants state the teen took an undetermined amount of cash from the register at the store on May 12 and shot the store clerk with a Taser gun. The store clerk told emergency dispatchers that another suspect pointed a gun in his face, and a customer fired two shots at the suspects.

Asheville police spokeswoman Christina Hallingse says the teen was transported to hospital and charged upon release. Police are searching for the second suspect.

It's unclear if the juvenile has a lawyer.
