RALEIGH - An inmate who escaped from a work maintenance group on Monday was captured Tuesday morning.
N.C. Department of Public Safety spokesperson Jerry Higgins said Larry J. Locklear was captured along I-95 around 7:30 a.m. He was working with a group in Johnston County on I-95 when he went missing. State Highway Patrol Trooper H.C. Wiseman arrested Locklear without incident.
Locklear, 66, was on a work assignment in Raleigh with a minimum custody inmate. He faces escape charges and will be demoted from minimum custody, Higgins said in a press release.
Locklear was scheduled for release in October 2021.
