Slow-moving UNC academic-sports scandal unresolved

CHAPEL HILL - The saga's next development could come this week, when former Tar Heels football player Michael McAdoo's lawsuit against the school, its chancellor and the NCAA is heard in the state Court of Appeals.

McAdoo is seeking damages after being ruled ineligible to play football for academic misconduct. McAdoo's work in the school's African studies department led to an internal probe that found about 9 percent of all courses going back five years featured instructors who didn't teach, grades that were changed, and faculty signatures faked on grade rolls.
