CARTERET COUNTY - Deputies say a local teen who went missing, prompting a Silver Alert, has been found.
The Carteret County Sheriff's Office told NewsChannel 12 just before 5:30 p.m. Wednesday that 16-year-old Sarah Morgan Stambro was found safe in New Bern.
Investigators did not release any other information.
A Silver Alert was issued earlier Wednesday after the Sheriff's Office reported that Stamboro was last seen near Newport.
The N.C. Center for Missing Persons has issued a Silver Alert for a missing teen in Eastern Carolina.
The public is asked to be on the lookout for 16-year-old Sarah Morgan Stambro, of Carteret County, who is believed to be suffering from a cognitive impairment, according to the Center for Missing Persons. She was last seen on Junius Drive near Newport.
The Carteret County Sheriff's Office said Stambro may be in the New Bern area.
Stambro is described as being 5-foot-4 and 160 pounds, with shoulder-length hair and blue eyes. She also has a pierced nose and naval. She was last seen wearing a blue UNC shirt and blag yoga pants, investigators said.
