KINSTON, LENOIR COUNTY - Shots were fired early Monday into a Kinston home with 11 people inside, including two children, police said. It was the second shooting in Kinston in less than 24 hours, and the fourth in two weeks.
According to the Kinston Department of Public Safety, shots were fired into the home at 509 Martin Drive at about 12:14 a.m. Monday.
The residence had 11 people inside at the time of the shooting, investigators said. According to the homeowner, her 4-year-old and another child, about 11 or 12 years old, were among the people inside. No injuries were reported.
In addition to the home, an unoccupied vehicle was also damaged in the shooting, said police.

Kinston has been experiencing a rash of shootings in recent days. At about 7:12 a.m. Sunday, two men were found with gunshot wounds on Hyman Avenue, police said.
On Nov. 5, a man was killed and two others were injured in a shooting on East Capitola Avenue, according to investigators.
Also on Nov. 5, about an hour after the deadly shooting, another shooting was reported in Kinston a little more than a mile away. According to the alleged victim, shots were fired into her SUV near James AME Church at 402 E. Shrine St. No one was injured.
