PAMLICO COUNTY - The service and staff at Bayboro Pharmacy off of Highway 55. Co-Owner, Jonathan Altman, is part of the Shop Local Shop Pamlico initiative. It's a project to get you to buy in town and not out of town.
"Our customers know us, and we know them. That's on of the benefits of shopping locally," said Altman.
Besides the friendly feel, there is the 3/50 Project. If you go into three businesses, send in your receipts totaling to 50 dollars, you are eligible to win a prize of 100 dollars or a gift from one of the many local businesses.
"If everybody can get on board and have that kind of mindset, then it would have a tremendous impact on our local economy," said Altman.
If you spend 100 dollars in a local business, 68 of those dollars will go back into your local economy. If you spend that same 100 dollars in a national chain, only 43 of those dollars go into your community.
"You get the same thing here so why not support your local business," said Vinnie Himbry, a local customer at Bayboro Pharmacy.
If you do not want to send in your receipts, you may send in photos of yourself in three different businesses.
You may drop your receipts at these local businesses:
Daily Bread Christian Book Store
First Citizens Bank
Wells Fargo Bank
You may mail them to:
