Two brothers accused of shooting into a car more than 30 times and killing a man inside are now both behind behind bars. Duane Bright Senior, the father of the victim, shares for the first time how his family is coping now that a second suspect is in jail.
"I got my moments where I break down, but I just take it one day at a time," Bright Senior said.
William Cannon was arrested at a Motel 6 near Interstate 95 in Fayetteville around 6 p.m. Friday. The Lenoir County Sheriff's Office wanted him for the murder of Duane Bright, Junior, who was killed on July 15 on South Wooten Street in La Grange. Deputies say two people shot into his car more than 30 times, killing him.
Detectives say they found Cannon after searching a motel room that was booked under a name they believed was him. Fayetteville Police searched the room and arrested Cannon. He is in jail with no bond.
The Lenoir County Sheriff's Office says William Cannon, and his brother Demico were quickly identified as suspects in the homicide. Demico Cannon was arrested on July 18, and is still in jail with no bond.
Bright Senior said he wants the two brothers to receive the harshest criminal penalty.
"Every time they go to court I'll be there. I'll be there are long as I can breathe," Bright Senior said.
He said he's been to his son's grave every day since the funeral.
Lenoir County Sheriff Chris Hill says the investigation is still going on, even though two suspects are in custody.
