AYDEN, PITT COUNTY -

A vehicle rear-ended a school bus carrying students in Pitt County Tuesday morning.

The school bus was on its way to Ayden Elementary School when it was rear-ended on Old Snow Hill Road at about 7:15 a.m. Tuesday, said Brock Letchworth, the spokesman for Pitt County Schools.

Letchworth said there were children on the bus when it was hit, but no one was hurt. The kids were taken to school by another bus after the accident.

The driver of the vehicle that rear-ended the school bus was cited for failure to reduce speed, said investigators.
