Restaurant Employees: Burglar hits neighboring business after first break-in attempt fails

HAVELOCK, CRAVEN COUNTY - Police are investigating a break-in at a Chinese Restaurant in Havelock, according to City Spokesperson Diane Miller.

It happened sometime overnight at Taste Of China Chinese Food on Highway 70 in Havelock.

Employees at Big Apple Pizza, located next to the Chinese restaurant, said the burglar originally tried to break-in to the pizzeria, but could not break through the glass.

That's when employees said the burglar moved on to Taste of China next door. The burglar broke the glass on the front door and made off with some cash, according to the restaurant owner.

Both restaurants are back open for business.
