According to Jones County Emergency Management, 30-year-old William Moore III has been missing since Sunday afternoon. Investigators believe the man left his home in Pollocksville and was walking towards New Bern.

Jones County Sheriff Danny Heath said Moore might be somewhere in the woods near Tuscorora Rhems Road, just off Highway 17. A command post has been set up in that area.

Moore's father, William Hoover Moore Jr., said he's worried something bad may have happened to his son.

"All I want to do is find him and bring him back home."

Jones County Emergency Management coordinator Carol Tyndall said search crews have been in the woods since noon on Tuesday.

"We're going to start the search teams arm and arm just pounding the dirt till we locate him," she said.

Authorities said they are concerned about Moore dealing with the weather because they found his clothes in the woods.

"The last article of clothing was found up here right past where the four lane stop behind a residence," Tyndall said.

The Cherry Point helicopter, "Pedro," was also circling the area.

"I think they're doing a good job searching for him but I just hope and pray they bring him back home soon," Moore Jr. said.

Tyndall said they don't plan on giving up anytime soon.

There is always hope, you know that's what we base it on when we're searching. You hope for the best but prepare for the worst," she said.

Moore is described as 5-foot-11. Anyone with information is asked to call the Jones County Sheriff's Office at 252-448-0035.
