Publication says murdered teacher served at Camp Lejeune
The Huffington Post reports a Nevada teacher murdered by a 12-year-old student on Monday served in the Marine Corps at Camp Lejeune.
The Post's web page quotes military records, saying 45-year-old math teacher Michael Landsberry served in the corps from 1986 to 1990 and was stationed at Camp Lejeune and Okinawa, Japan.
Police in Sparks, Nevada say the student opened fire at Sparks Middle School on Monday, killing Landsberry and wounding two other students before shooting himself to death. Landsberry was reportedly trying to shield other students when he was shot.
Officers said Tuesday that the student got the weapon from his home. Authorities say they are withholding the seventh-grader's name out of respect for his family.
