LA GRANGE - A pregnant mother, hit by a tractor trailer on Tuesday, died Sunday according to family members.
Tiffany Smith, 22, died from multiple injuries from the crash, family said.
Smith was hit by an 18-wheeler Tuesday in the parking lot BJ's Grill in La Grange. Troopers said the tractor trailer ran off Highway 70 and into the parking lot where Smith was standing with her two-year-old son Deshawn. Smith lost her unborn child in the accident.
According to family members, the two-year-old had surgery on a broken femur, but is expected to be OK.
The crash was likely caused when the driver of the 18-wheeler swerved to avoid a pick-up truck that pulled out in front of him, troopers said. The Highway Patrol expects to speak with the District Attorney Tuesday about possible charges.

An 18-wheeler ran off the road and crashed into a pregnant woman and her toddler, the Highway Patrol said.
It happened off Highway 70, outside La Grange in Lenoir County at around noon Tuesday.
The woman was coming out of BJ's Grill, carrying food and her toddler son, when the 18-wheeler ran off Highway 70 and hit the mother and child in the parking lot, troopers said. The toddler was reportedly trapped underneath the tractor-trailer. According to witnesses, the child's mother was pregnant. The victims' car, seen in the photo, was smashed.
