OCRACOKE -

Late Saturday, power was fully restored to Ocracoke island following hurricane Arthur damaging 45 power poles on the island.

According to a Hyde County spokesperson, as of 9:43 Saturday, power was restored and a state of emergency lifted to the island.

The category 2 hurricane hit the island with winds up to 99 mph Thursday night into Friday morning. Despite much of the island losing power, damage was cited as minor.

The island was voluntarily evacuated but a lot of visitors weathered the storm.

Sunday, the ferry service was running as normal.
