EASTERN CAROLINA - Power had been restored for almost 10,000 people in Beaufort, Craven and Pitt Counties, who lost power Monday afternoon.
According to Progress Energy, the outages happened at about 2:22 p.m. along Highway 17. About 5,910 customers from areas near Vanceboro, Chicod, Chocowinity and Washington were without power. But according to Progress Energy, most of the outages had since been fixed.
Tidelands EMC reported that more than 3,500 of their customers south of the Pamlico River were also without power. But those outages had also been restored
