Police say four men broke into a woman's home, forcing her to lay face down on the floor, as they robbed her.
The incident happened Wednesday night at around 10:40 p.m. at a home on Sherman Street in Kinston, police said.
The victim told police four masked men armed with handguns pulled open her storm door, entered her home and made her lay face down on the floor. She told the officer the suspects then took her cell phone and $25, according to a news release. The victim then said they then searched her vehicle; she was not harmed in the incident.
According to the victim's boyfriend, the victim had just won the State Education Lottery for the amount of $30,000. The boyfriend thinks that is the reason she was robbed.
A friend who wishes to remain anonymous stopped by the victim's home Thursday. She had this to say about the crime: "Somebody broke into her house and put guns and things to her head," said the friend. "Anyone would be upset about something like that. It's tragic. Just tragic."
