Police seeking help in shooting death of Greenville apartment manager
Police are asking for the public to help solve a Greenville homicide from two years ago.
Wednesday marked exactly two years since the shooting death of 64-year-old Michael Burgwardt (pictured above) on Nov. 20, 2011.
Burgwardt was found dead at about 9:45 a.m. at 3212 Summer Place, Apt. 4, according to Greenville Police. The victim had been shot several times.
Burgwardt used the apartment as an office to manage the Summer Place Apartments complex, said investigators. He was last seen alive at about 8:30 p.m. the previous night.
Police said they are especially interested in getting help from residents of the apartment complex and the adjacent Peed Drive area. Since the homicide, detectives have interviewed tenants, neighbors, friends and relatives of the victim.
Burgwardt's family is offering a cash reward in addition to any money that CrimeStoppers would pay for information that will lead to an arrest. Anyone with info is asked to call Detective Cpl. Scott Stanton of the GPD Major Crimes Unit at 252-329-480.
