GREENVILLE, PITT COUNTY -

Police say they are searching for a man who tried to commit a strong-arm robbery near East Carolina University Tuesday morning.

According to the Greenville Police Department, the man tried to snatch a purse from a woman on 10th Street in front of the Wells Fargo. It happened at about 10:45 a.m. Tuesday.

When the woman resisted, the man ran in the director of the McDonald's, police said.

Nothing was taken and no one was hurt. A weapon was not displayed, investigators added.

The suspect is described as a white male in his 30s and approximately 5-foot-8, police said. He was wearing a white t-shirt, white board shorts and flip flops.
