KINSTON, LENOIR COUNTY -

Police said they are searching for a gunman who shot and injured a man in Kinston early Wednesday morning.

According to the Kinston Department of Public Safety, the shooting happened at about 12:52 a.m. Wednesday on the 1600 block of Old Snow Hill Road.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found Shaquille Stanley, with gunshot wounds to both legs, lying in a yard, police said. Stanley told investigators a black male wearing a black hoodie shot him and fled the scene east on Dixon Street.

Stanley was taken to Vidant Medical Center, said police. There was no word on his condition.

The Lenoir County Sheriff's K-9 team was called in to help search for the shooter. But at last check, no arrest had been made.
