Police: One woman shot in downtown New Bern

NEW BERN, CRAVEN COUNTY - Police said a woman was shot Saturday morning in downtown New Bern.

New Bern Police received reports of shots fired at 2:29 Saturday morning. According to Sgt. Paul Brown, it happened near Five Points Fuel Marked on Broad St. near downtown New Bern.

Sgt. Brown said the victim, Torraniesha Richardson, suffered injuries to her left leg as a result of the shooting. He said Richardson was taken to a hospital

Police arrested 20-year-old Devone Martinez Bryant on scene. Bryan faces a charge of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill among other charges.

At the scene, police arrested three other people. The three each face drug related charges including felony possession of cocaine.

Devone Bryant is under a $30,000 secured bond. Sgt. Brown said Bryant is expected in Craven County Court Monday morning.
