HAVELOCK, CRAVEN COUNTY - A Havelock woman is accused of running an illegal massage business out of her home.
Jessica Murphy, 29, is not a licensed massage therapist, according to Havelock Police.
Even so, she had emails from men asking for her services, according to an investigator.
Police said a Craigslist post that featured Murphy's picture advertised her services.
A reporter found a Craigslist personal ad that advertises massages in Havelock, and features the line "other procedures available if one is interested in a stay up to 2 hours : - ) ."
Police searched Murphy's Wynne Road home last week, and seized over a dozen items including receipts, supplies, and computer equipment.
Murphy is charged with operating a massage therapy business in Havelock without having a massage practitioner's license, and operating a business without permission to do so, among other charges.
NewsChannel 12 emailed a police spokesperson to ask whether any other alleged illegal activity was going on in the home.
The spokesperson responded to our email, but did not specifically answer our question.
Newschannel 12 could not reach Murphy for comment; no one answered the door at her home and her phone line had been disconnected.
A neighbor, Eddie Cruz, said he's happy the alleged illegal business was found.
"We don't want that stuff to come back around here," Cruz said.
Murphy is out of jail on a $5,000 bond.
