Police: ECU student charged after pot, moonshine, knife found in dorm

GREENVILLE, PITT COUNTY - An ECU student has been charged for allegedly having moonshine, marijuana and a knife in his dorm room.

According to ECU Police, 18-year-old Zachary Rosenberg has been charged with felony possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession/sell non-tax paid liquor, possession of a malt beverage by someone not 19 or 20 years old, and weapon on educational property.

Police said they went to Scott Hall at about 7:20 p.m. Wednesday after getting a call from housing management. Officers then smelled marijuana from Rosenberg's room on the third floor, according to investigators.

Police said once they obtained a search warrant and went inside the dorm room, they found a container of moonshine, marijuana, drug paraphernalia and a knife with a 6-inch blade.

Rosenberg's two suitemates --Justin Hale and Spencer Schafer-- have also been charged. Hale is facing simple possession of marijuana and paraphernalia and Schafer is charged with possession of a fraudulent ID.
