KINSTON, LENOIR COUNTY - Police in Kinston say they are looking for a man who shot another man Wednesday night.
Crenshawn Damoine Williams (pictured above), 21, of Kinston, was shot, according to Commander Tim Dilday with the Kinston Department of Public Safety.
The shooting took place at 10:22 p.m. Wednesday in front of Building 13 at Mitchell Wooten Apartments in Kinston, police said.
When officers arrived, they found Williams in the parking lot with a gunshot wound to his side, said investigators.
He was taken to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, but his condition was not released.
Police said five or more shots were fired in all. Apartment resident, Chyna, said it sounded like a lot more gunshots.
"It was at least about 10 of them. At least 10 of them, but I'm talking about it was so close. I thought he was shooting at the apartment. Where I am at. Like that's how close it was," Chyna said.
Chyna said she wishes people would talk out their problems instead of using bullets. She said she's worried about the kids in the area that play outside.
"Why in the world would you be shooting like that? Stop thinking about yourself and think about other people who are around you," Chyna said.
NewsChannel 12 has reported on fourteen shootings in Kinston this year. Two of them were near these apartments with the last one involving a 15-year-old being shot.
Police said they are still searching for the shooter. Anyone with information is asked to call Det. J. Webb at 252-939-3191.
